Air Cargo Security Requirements – 1st March 2019
27/2/2019Air Cargo Security Requirements – 1st March 2019
As the industry is aware, the Australian Government (Department of Home Affairs) have confirmed additional security methods effective from 1st March 2019 surrounding the movement of Export Air cargo from Australia.
With the Department of Home Affairs confirming the increased security measures applicable to all export cargo from the 1st March 2019, we wish to remind our clients of the need to ensure that all consignments containing build up transport pallets (skids) of mixed commodities will not be accepted or will attract additional screening methods and special attendance.
Cargo is only able to be accepted on transport pallets (skids) if the contents are homogenous. The CTO’s have confirmed a rejection fee for cargo which does not comply.
As per previous advice, further information can be found on the department of Home affairs website
In it highly recommended that any regular exporters or manufacturers consider the option of applying to become a Known Consignor if they have not already done so.
We are sure there will be some initial issues but we would like to ensure all partners of Fracht that we have made necessary arrangements to ensure there is minimal impact to the processing of export airfreight consignments.
Appreciate your patience and cooperation during this major industry change.
We do hope the above information is of assistance, if there are any further question’s please do not hesitate to contact your Fracht Australia representative.
